Katie Scott is relying on her course specialist Gweedore in the £50,000 feature race at Musselburgh.

A five-time winner at the East Lothian venue, he is set to be partnered by Jason Hart in the concluding seven-furlong handicap.

The borders trainer said:

“He’s been in great form at home and his mark has gone down by 10lbs since this time last year. Hopefully he will run well and set himself up or a good season.”

The opening card of the ITV-televised Sky Bet Sunday Series boasts £200,000 in total prize money and the leading jockey over the six meetings will receive the Jorvik Shield and a cheque for £25,000.

Ramazan, pipped by a neck in the 2023 Ayr Gold Cup, shoulders top-weight for Oisin Orr and Richard Fahey while New Image, a course and distance score last August for David O’Meara, is equipped with a first-time hood.

Jim Goldie has booked Kaiya Fraser for the most on hat-trick seeking Shine On Brendan in the opening mile handicap.

It will be a belated three-timer as the Uplawmoor raider won his last two races at Hamilton Park and Ayr last autumn.

There are some nicely-bred newcomers in the line-up for the novice stakes.

Goldie is also represented in the 1m 4f handicap by Letsbefrank - the horse that scooped connections £100,000 last year as the first horse to win three races across the series.

“It’s great news that this initiative is back and we will certainly be aiming plenty of horses at the bonus,” Goldie said.

Letsbefrank faces stiff competition on all sides including from March Southwell victor Sportingsilvermine, trained in Newmarket by James Owen and owned by Scots-born Gordon McDowell.

Karl Burke’s Clear Force and Kevin Ryan-trained  Dickensian both have a Group 1 winner in their pedigrees while Frio, for John and Sean Quinn, cost £140,000 as a yearling.
