Code Purple, trained by Ben Haslam and ridden by Clifford Lee, was an all-the-way winner of the Join Racing TV Handicap at Musselburgh on Wednesday.

Send off at 15/2, the Middleham raider saw off Pembrokeshire to score by a cosy length and a quarter.

“Ben spoke to me beforehand and we knew there wasn’t a lot of pace in the race so we decided to go forward, keep it simple and use his stride,” Lee said. “He’s done the job nicely in the end, he was getting a little lonely in front, and the trip wasn’t an issue as all his wins have come over seven-furlongs including here in a maiden.”

Katie Scott was on the mark when Jumeira Vision battled on gamely under Sam James to land the Visit racingtv.com Handicap.

“He’s clearly in good form after his win the other day at Redcar,” the Galashiels-based trainer said. “We’ve no plans as where he will go next but it could possibly be at Ayr as he shouldn’t go up much for this"
