Archerfield Cup returns

Musselburgh Racecourse continues its strong golfing links this Friday, 11 Aug staging the £63,000 Archerfield Cup Race Day.

Tuesday 8th August 2017

Archerfield Cup returns on Friday 11th August

It follows on from last Friday’s evening meeting which was attended by golfers competing in the Scottish Senior Open Championship at North Berwick’s Renaissance Club, including legends Sam Torrance, Ian Woosnam and Roger Chapman.

The seven-race card gets underway art 2pm and feature race of the day is the Class 2 £20,000 Archerfield Cup Handicap run over 1m 5 furlongs (4pm). Entries from the leading trainers include Mark Johnston, Sir Mark Prescott, William Haggas and Saeed bin Suroor, while Keith Dalgleish is sending Sebastian’s Wish which has won three out of its last four outings at Musselburgh.

The East Lothian course is hoping to build on the 3000-plus crowd which attended last weeks’ race meeting and August ends a busy month with double-header meetings on Wednesday and Thursday 30 and 31 August.

Early bird discounts are available with a saving of £2 on the full adult admission price of £20 while children aged 17 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. The racecourse runs free shuttle buses to and from Wallyford and Newcraighall train stations for those travelling by rail or using park ‘n’ ride facilities.

Gates open at noon on Friday, the first race is off at 2pm and the last race is scheduled for 5pm.
